-

Gallbladder Surgery
Located in the upper abdomen, the gallbladder is a small organ responsible for collecting and storing bile, a liquid that aids in breaking down and digesting food.
-

Pancreas Surgery
The pancreas serves both digestive and endocrine functions: it produces enzymes for food digestion and regulates blood sugar with insulin.
-

Liver Surgery
The liver, body's largest organ, detoxifies blood, regulates sugar, clotting, and performs vital functions, located below the rib cage in the upper abdomen.
-

Gastrointestinal Surgeries
Procedures including antireflux surgery, investigations like ERCP, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy, as well as hernia repairs.
Costs & ‘Gaps’
Your health fund and Medicare will cover the majority of the cost of your hospital stay, usually minus a known ‘excess’.
Surgical fees are partly covered by your fund and Medicare under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)
The MBS poorly remunerates surgeons for complex surgical procedures and in addition, it penalises surgeons for providing multiple procedures to patients and does not encourage efficiency.
Dr Webber’s fees are based on the AMA schedule of fees. He is a private billing surgeon - any possible ‘Gap Payment’ for surgery will be discussed and informed financial consent will be completed prior to surgery. (see below)
Consideration is given to the financial background of patients.
An initial consultation fee is charged at $250 whilst a follow-up charged at $125. Medicare will rebate a percentage of this charge. Private health funds do not offer a rebate for consultation fees
Gaps for commonly performed procedures
Gallbladder surgery ~$2090
Groin Hernia surgery -$968
Ventral Hernia surgery ~$2012
No-gap is charged for cancer surgery
